PS5's recording function defaults to "WebM". How to convert recording format to MP4

The PS5 comes standard with a function to capture the screen, but even if you don't have a capture board or a computer, you can record the screen with just the PS5.
Furthermore, by linking your PS5 account and YouTube, you can also upload directly from PS5.
Simple videos can be captured and shared instantly.

However, the default recording format for this capture function is ".webm".
It is difficult to handle compared to the highly compatible MP4 file.
When uploading a webm format file to YouTube, it may take several times longer processing time than mp4. In addition, the webm format also makes video files larger, which wastes storage space.
Furthermore, some media players cannot play webm format videos. For example, iPhone cannot play webm format videos.
This article will show you how to save as MP4 when recording screen on PS5.

A software called Uniconverter is useful for converting videos captured by WebM to mp4.

How to Convert PS5 Recording Format to MP4

Just before recording, press the create button on the top left of the controller.

Select "Prefer compatibility (MP4)" in "Video clip file format" in "Capture options" on the right side of the screen.
This file format defaults to WebM, so you have to change it every time.
There is no way to change to "Save in MP4 format by default".
Once I started recording and stopped it, it was forced to change to "WebM" again.
I don't know why it's designed like this. Don't forget to change it when recording.

Press the create button → convert to MP4 → "start new recording" without returning to the game screen

You can record in MP4 by following this procedure.
If I convert it to MP4 and return to the game screen even once, it returns to "WebM" for some reason. Mystery is.
