Blue Jays Score 28 Points, Defeat Red Sox by a Wide Margin

The Blue Jays won the game between the Blue Jays and the Red Sox on Friday, July 22 by a 28-5 margin. This was the third highest score in the history of the game.

In this first game after the All-Star break, the Blue Jays' lineup exploded and the Red Sox made a series of mistakes.

Much of this massive scoring was due to Red Sox defensive miscues, most notably a running grand slam that scored four more runs when the center fielder lost sight of a fly ball.

Jalen Duran, defending center, completely lost sight of the ball and it fell far back. He also made no attempt to retrieve the dropped ball. This allowed the batter, Reimertapia, to come all the way home.

It was apparently his second grand slam at this ballpark.

Also, the third, catcher, and pitcher were matched up on a high fly ball, adding more runs. The spectators in the ballpark were disappointed by this and booed.

After losing sight of the ball, Duran said, "This is the most hopeless feeling I have ever had. I should have gone for the ball as soon as it landed." He reflected.
